Head of Originations
Michael Bodnev joined Cerco upon its formation in 2017 and serves as the firm's Head of Originations. He is responsible for sourcing, structuring, and underwriting Cerco's debt investments and plays a central role in evaluating credit risk, collateral quality, and sponsor capability. Over his tenure, Mr. Bodnev has participated in the underwriting of a wide range of commercial real estate transactions nationwide, spanning industrial, office, multifamily, mixed-use, retail, hospitality, and specialized assets. His work has supported Cerco's disciplined approach to originating more than $1 billion in senior mortgage loans.
Before joining Cerco, Mr. Bodnev worked in the office of the in-house counsel at Ludvik Group, a Denver-based EPC firm involved in infrastructure development, real estate, and defense projects, where he gained exposure to large-scale construction and project-finance matters.
Mr. Bodnev is admitted to practice law in New York State. He graduated from Brooklyn Law School with a Certificate in Real Estate Law, studied at the London School of Economics, and received a B.A. in International Relations from Lehigh University, graduating cum laude.
